About the piece
The Solitary Chapel
The relic that mattered most in Ireland was often a bell. Small iron handbells belonging to founding saints were kept for centuries, then encased in gold and silver shrines — St Patrick's Bell is a plain riveted thing wrapped in a container worth a fortune. The sound came first; the reverence arrived later.
The Solitary Chapel is the scale of building that one bell was enough for.
