About the piece
Woman of the Western Shore
Irish tradition kept a place for women who were feared rather than protected — Medb, Macha, Scáthach, who in the Ulster Cycle taught the greatest warrior of the age everything he knew. This silver-haired figure on the western cliffs is imagined rather than drawn from any one of them, but she belongs to that lineage: someone who has outlived the doubt of others and walks the shoreline anyway.
Woman of the Western Shore is a portrait of authority that never needed permission.
