About the piece
The Golden Headland
Before charts and lighthouses, the tall things on headlands did navigational work. A cross or a tower on high ground was visible from miles out and told a boatman which bay he was looking into. Devotion and seamanship were solving the same problem with the same object.
The Golden Headland is a marker that answered a horizon before it answered anything else.
