About the piece
Silver Light
The high crosses were painted. Traces of pigment survive on a few, and the reasonable assumption is that most of them once stood in reds, blues and yellows, closer to a stained window than to the grey monuments we photograph. A thousand years of Irish weather stripped them back to stone, and we decided we preferred it.
Silver Light is the version the rain left us. It is not the version they built.
