About the piece
Reflection
Some of the oldest monastic sites in Ireland sit on lake islands rather than sea ones — Devenish on Erne, Inchagoill on Corrib, Inis Cealtra on Derg. Water gave the same separation as the ocean without the same violence, and a lake gives something the sea never does: the building back, upside down, every calm morning.
Reflection holds both versions at once, the solid and the provisional.
