Beyond the Waves
The medieval Navigatio sent Brendan west in a hide boat for seven years, past islands of birds and fire, looking for a promised land somebody was certain was out there. Irish monks really did sail to Iceland. Whether Brendan went further is beside the point — the story tells you which direction the imagination faced.
Beyond the Waves looks the way this island has always looked when it wanted something.
