About the piece
The Living Cliffs
The Burren grows Arctic and Mediterranean plants in the same crack of limestone — mountain avens beside orchids that have no business this far north. The rock holds heat, the Atlantic keeps the frost off, and the result is a botanical anomaly that people travel a long way to kneel down and look at.
The Living Cliffs is named accurately. This coast is stranger than it looks.
