Fields beneath the Moon
The stone walls of the west are not fences. They are the field, taken apart — every wall is the rock that had to come out of the ground before anything would grow, stacked at the edge because there was nowhere else to put it. On Aran the fields are tiny because the clearing was that hard.
Fields beneath the Moon shows a landscape that is entirely man-made and looks entirely natural.
