The Hidden Light
There are thousands of souterrains under Irish fields — dry-stone passages dug beneath farmsteads and church sites, some with creep-holes narrow enough to force a person to crawl in singly, which is the whole idea if you are waiting on the other side. Cold storage most of the year, refuge on the bad days. Most were found by a plough or a collapsing cow.
The Hidden Light belongs to the Ireland that is still underneath the visible one.
