About the piece
The Heart of the Chamber
Bullaun stones sit at monastic sites all over Ireland: boulders with a smooth rounded basin worked into the top, usually holding rainwater. Nobody is certain what they were for — grinding, baptism, cursing, all have been argued. What is certain is that people still visit them, and still treat the water in them as good for something.
The Heart of the Chamber is about that kind of survival: the practice outlasting the explanation.
How the artwork is made
