About the piece
The Gathering Hall
The great assemblies met at burial grounds. Tailtiu and Carman were óenaig — fairs held at the graves of ancestors, where law was proclaimed, debts settled, horses raced and matches made. Nobody thought it strange to conduct the noisiest business of the year standing on the dead. The ancestors were the reason the ground had authority.
The Gathering Hall keeps that arrangement: the pattern in the floor, and the people around it.
