About the piece
The Blue Clover
Ireland's colour was blue before it was green. St Patrick's blue ran through the old heraldry and the Order of St Patrick, and the harp on a blue field is still there on the presidential standard. Green arrived late, borrowed from politics rather than tradition.
The Blue Clover puts the emblem back in the colour it started in — which is not a mistake, but a memory.
